Current Information:Age-21 12, Crozier Terrace, Homerton Tancrez Farm Cemetery, Belgium
On 1st January, 1915, the 1st Royal Lancaster battalion of 12 Brigade, 4th Division were relieved from the trenches at Le Touquet, Belgium, just north of the French town of Armentières and moved into billets in Le Bizet where they remained until they returned to the trenches on 5th January. Records show that Charles McConnell was killed on 3rd January, 1915 but the battalion diary makes no mention of any casualties. The likelihood is that he was killed by shell fire perhaps when on a work party. |
